Zusammenfassung
Die USA als klassisches Einwanderungsland befinden sich in einer Phase der demographischen Revolution, die mittelfristig dazu führen wird, dass Latinos die größte Bevölkerungsgruppe im Lande sein werden. Dabei hat sich vor allem seit der Jahrtausendwende die geographische Verteilung der spanischsprachigen Bevölkerung ebenso signifikant verändert, wie ihre kulturelle und soziale Heterogenität gewachsen ist. Obwohl die US-Latinos auch in manchen Bereichen des kulturellen und öffentlichen Lebens, so z. B. der Popmusik, in den letzten 15 Jahren eine hohe Sichtbarkeit erreicht haben und angemessen repräsentiert sind, spiegeln andere Bereiche der kulturellen Produktion und des öffentlichen Lebens diese demographischen Trends (noch) nicht wider.
