Zusammenfassung
Die EU definierte 2011 CSR als „the responsibility of enterprises for their impacts on society“. Sie führte weiter aus, dass das Respektieren von gesetzlichen Vorgaben und kollektiven Vereinbarungen zwischen den Sozialpartnern lediglich eine Voraussetzung für CSR darstellen, weiterhin aber Prozesse nötig sind, die soziale, umweltorientierte, ethische Belange, Menschenrechte und Belange der Konsumenten systematisch mit der Unternehmensstrategie und den Geschäftsprozessen verbinden und dies in enger Kooperation mit den Stakeholdern.
