Abstract

The crisis that followed the collapse of Lehman Brothers in September of 2008 was very real for poor people across the world. It has been estimated that the global financial crisis (GFC), had pushed an additional 64 million people into extreme poverty at the end of 2010 (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs 2010).
