  • Drew S. Holland EMAIL logo

Abstract

In light of varying assumptions and arguments about them, this article examines the form and function of the thirty-four citations found in 1–2 Kings of three sources containing information on the monarchies of Israel and Judah. By looking to the use of source citations in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, as well as the grammatical presentation of the citations in the biblical text, we will assess the intention of the historian of 1–2 Kings to mention these sources.

Résumé
