ABSTRACT
India faces an energy problem. The problem can be captured in three sentences. Demand is growing. Supply is not keeping pace with demand. And the environment is under stress. This problem has been brought about by a combination of natural, social, economic, and political factors. Inadvisable government policy has reinforced the mix.
